ENABLE debating is proud to announce we have made it through yet another fantastic year of extremely competitive debates. The year began with a virtual training day that took place through TEAMS. Queensland Debating Union were generous to give amazing presentations to develop our students' skills and stamina surrounding debates through TEAMS. Although this process was a little unusual, the students thrived in the workshops. Students were able to network with other debating students and coaches from all around the Logan district whilst deepening their knowledge and skillset around debating. Park Ridge State High School hosted a second gala day in Term 2 allowing all the schools to come together again and refine their debating skills mid-way through the competition.

The debating competition kicked off at Kingston State High School in March and for the first time in two years we started our competition on time without the interruption of COVID-19. The competition ran progressively throughout the year with four rounds. Each round showcased excellent debates surrounding a vast range of topics. Teams demonstrated enthusiasm and passion to each round being able to demonstrate their new skills learned at the two workshop days. It was so amazing to see the teams come together, and the networks created through the workshops spring to life. The ENABLE debating teams had really created such a strong community and friendship amongst themselves.

For a second time, the ENABLE all-stars team represented the ENABLE cohort in the Queensland Secondary School Competition organised by the Queensland Debating Union. This competition took place at Brisbane State High School. It was such a tremendous opportunity for our team to go up against other teams from schools outside the Logan district. The students debated highly complex topics and were able to practice implementing POIs into their debating skillset. We aim to continue this opportunity moving forward into 2023. The committee will meet again on 7th of December to map out the fantastic 2023 season for ENABLE DEBATING competition.
