Students are at the core of our work as educators. Advancing educational opportunities and outcomes for our students is a priority area for the ENABLE Coalition of Schools. Some of the student-centred initiatives and programs developed by ENABLE include:

ENABLE–Griffith University

  • Days of Excellence: A series of specially designed University experience days for high achieving ENABLE students, these programs seek to enrich and extend the academic experience of students though interactive sessions and lectures conducted by tertiary academics. Current ongoing programs have been developed in the areas of Business, Information and Communications Technology, Human Services, Mathematics, Nursing and Midwifery and STEM.

  • Satellite Program: Developed for ENABLE schools which are situated in regional areas, this initiative enables students who are disadvantaged by geographical location to participate in university early admissions programs. A travelling academic delivers university courses in schools, with the school acting as a satellite campus of the university.

ENABLE Programs

  • The Enable Regional Debating Competition is a regional Debating Competition for Logan and The Scenic Rim in partnership with The Queensland Debating Union and Minister Hon. Shannon Fentimen as sponsor and patron since 2017.  In consultation with the debating coordinators, English HODs and the community, the Enable Debating Competition has grown from a small competition to a Regional Debating Competition for Logan and The Scenic Rim.  Our competition now links to both the Gold Coast and Brisbane regional debating competitions. This partnership was achieved with funding from the Queensland Debating Union to the value of $8000 and sponsorship by Hon. Shannon Fentimen and hosted by GU Logan. In 2019, the competition had 40 teams from Years 7-12 across the Enable schools and this has 48 teams.

  • Student Leadership: Developed in partnership with the Logan City Council Community Development Team, ENABLE and Sentis Education – The Leaders of Logan Leadership Program ran in 2019 to develop the leadership capacity and 'cultural capital' of aspiring student leaders in our cluster. The first of its kind in the region, the program presents aspiring student leaders with quality professional learning and networking opportunities in the form ongoing professional development and leadership education and links with community organisations for students to become active in our Logan community.
  • The Logan Chamber of Commerce: Students are integral to a variety of initiatives offered through the Logan Chamber of Commerce. This includes leadership programs and representation at the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
